The Urban Campfire project in Ipswich offers a unique environment for young men aged 14-19 to connect and develop. This 19-week initiative, held at AMPP Studio, uses music production, creative arts, and cooking around a fire to foster self-expression and build confidence.
Led by artists, chefs, and mentors, the program emphasizes natural conversations and shared activities. Participants prepare meals together, breaking down barriers and building a sense of community. Simultaneously, they are working on an EP featuring bedroom pop, indie, and rock songs, complete with official music videos.
The project, which launched in April following a pilot last September, has eight regular attendees and is funded by Suffolk County Council's Culture Project fund. An end-of-project showcase is scheduled for August 11 at AMPP Studio, inviting the public to experience the young men's achievements.
