World Class India by Diageo has announced the Top 100 shortlisted bartenders for its 2026 edition, reflecting a maturing South Asian bar community. This year's selection features unprecedented representation from Tier 2 cities like Pune, Kochi, and Indore, alongside major metros.
Bartenders were challenged to reimagine classic cocktails using Johnnie Walker Black Label. Submissions highlighted popular formats such as Sours, Highballs, and Old Fashioneds, with standout ingredients including banana, jaggery, toasted rice, and mushroom. This reflects a growing confidence and creativity grounded in classic techniques but expressive in local flavors.
Anchal Kaushal, VP of Customer Marketing at Diageo India, noted the encouraging diversity of talent, especially from Tier 2 cities and among women. This edition sees a historic 14% representation of women bartenders, supported by Diageo's initiatives, underscoring the platform's commitment to growth and inclusivity.
