Kerry Naylor is closing the fryer doors at Kerry's Chippy after an impressive 42-year career. Her last day of service in Ilkeston will be Saturday, May 16th. Naylor described her final week as emotional, having poured her heart and soul into the business.
Starting in Church Street in 1984, Naylor eventually took over the Pelham Street location from her aunt in 1994, renaming it Kerry's Chippy. She built strong friendships with her staff and the local patrons over the years.
Customers have expressed their deep appreciation for Naylor's service. One diner travelled 26 miles from Chesterfield specifically for the shop's unique 'full house' special. Long-time patrons have lauded the friendly service and quality food.
The chip shop will continue operating under new ownership, which Naylor is pleased to see will be "Ilkestonians." She is now looking forward to holidays with her husband.
