Summary
- Durga Puja rituals began on September 26, 2025
- Pandals feature intricate idols and diverse artistic themes
- Celebrations reflect Hyderabad's rich Bengali cultural heritage

Hyderabad's Durga Puja celebrations burst to life on September 26, 2025, as the city's Bengali community welcomed the five-day festival with great enthusiasm. Across neighborhoods, from Gachibowli to Sainikipuri, towering pandals have been erected, each adorned with intricate idols of Goddess Durga.
The Utsaab Cultural Association in Gachibowli created a village hut-style pandal illuminated with over 50 lanterns, featuring a Durga idol designed in folk art. This rustic design stands in contrast to the modern IT hub, offering devotees a glimpse of Bengal's rural charm. Meanwhile, the Cyberabad Bangali Association in Miyapur chose the 'pattachitra' art form as its central theme, portraying Durga in a peaceful, maternal form.
The Bangiya Sanskritik Sangha, one of Hyderabad's oldest Puja organizers, is marking its 60th year with a striking replica of Jaipur Palace, blending Rajasthani architecture with Bengali devotion. The Hyderabad Bangalee Samity, which has been hosting Durga Puja since 1942, is focusing on 'nari shakti' (women's empowerment) this year, reflecting the community's commitment to contemporary social themes.
As the city's Bengali community celebrates these milestones, the Durga Puja festivities have become a testament to Hyderabad's rich cultural diversity and the enduring spirit of the region's devotees.
