- A 5km run celebrated Hull's Headscarf Revolutionaries.
- They campaigned for improved fishing safety after a 1968 tragedy.
- Their efforts led to the Fisherman's Charter for better standards.

A 5km run along the River Humber recently celebrated Hull's "Headscarf Revolutionaries," four women who fought for enhanced safety in the fishing industry. This event, the Headscarf Hustle, now in its third year, took place on International Women's Day and raised funds for a statue honoring their efforts.
The campaign was sparked by the 1968 Triple Trawler Tragedy, where 58 men perished when three Hull trawlers sank. Led by Lillian Bilocca, the women established the Fisherman's Charter.
This charter demanded crucial safety improvements, including radio operators on every trawler, better equipment, and enhanced training. The granddaughter of one campaigner, Yvonne Blenkinsop, participated, stressing the global impact of their fight.
The event, organized by Fitmums & Friends, highlighted the inspirational legacy of these women and their pursuit of a cause vital to the community.
