A significant new park, costing £3.9 million, is being planned for Horley in Surrey, aiming to enhance outdoor recreation for its expanding population. The proposed site at Tanyard Meadows is expected to become a hub for community activities and fitness.
Plans for the new park are ambitious, potentially featuring a modern skatepark, dedicated pickleball courts, an outdoor gym, children's play zones, and even a sports pavilion. Existing walking, running, and cycling trails will also be integrated, offering diverse recreational options.
The project is being financed through Section 106 developer contributions, a mechanism for ensuring new developments provide necessary community infrastructure. This initiative is designed to meet the current deficit in recreational facilities in the southern part of the borough, with further public consultation planned.
