Hair Horror: 14 Inches Slashed Off in Salon Mix-Up
11 May
Summary
- Customer sought a trim but 14 inches of hair were cut.
- The incident occurred during a £20 wash, cut, and blow-dry.
- The salon described the event as a misunderstanding.

An NHS worker has expressed deep distress following a haircut at a Norwich city centre salon, where 14 inches of her hair was allegedly removed. Amanda Macintosh, 42, reported that she had only requested a trim, wanting no more than an inch or two off her long hair.
The incident took place on April 25 during a £20 wash, cut, and blow-dry at the Crop Shop. Ms. Macintosh claims the stylist disregarded her explicit instructions. She realized the extent of the haircut only after it was completed, describing the experience as a "horror story."
The salon's manager, Stuart Stott, stated that this was the "only complaint" they had received that year. He suggested the client should have raised concerns during the appointment and offered a complimentary haircut, characterizing the situation as a "misunderstanding."
Ms. Macintosh, who rarely visits hairdressers, has been left anxious about her appearance, stating her hair was a "comfort blanket." She has since shared her experience online, reportedly receiving similar accounts from others who have visited the salon.
