Guatemalan chefs have officially set a new Guinness World Record for the largest fiambre salad ever assembled. On October 24, 2026, a massive crew in Guatemala City created a staggering 1,962.2 kg (4,325.9 lb) dish of this traditional Guatemalan cuisine. Organized by Toledo Alimentos, the event served as a significant tribute to one of Guatemala's most cherished food traditions, coinciding with All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day.
Fiambre, a chilled salad traditionally prepared on November 1st and 2nd, is a complex dish with deep historical roots, often featuring up to 52 different ingredients. Legend suggests its origins lie in families sharing favorite foods at cemeteries during Day of the Dead gatherings. The record-breaking fiambre included a variety of meats, sausages, cold cuts, vegetables, and a spiced dressing, all mixed with giant paddles.
The successful record attempt was overseen by Guinness World Records adjudicator Susana Reyes. Following the official declaration, the monumental salad was shared with attendees. Portions of the record-breaking meal were sold, with the generated funds designated to support culinary scholarships for young chefs throughout Guatemala, extending the event's impact beyond the culinary achievement.
