Good Food Awards Honor Sustainable Brews

The Good Food Awards have recognized six beers from three breweries for their exceptional quality and commitment to sustainable practices. Allagash Brewing Company in Maine, Cerebral Brewing in Colorado, and Fullsteam Brewery in North Carolina each had two beers honored. These awards go beyond taste, celebrating breweries that prioritize thoughtful ingredient sourcing, environmental responsibility, and ethical labor conditions.

Winning breweries must strengthen regional supply chains by sourcing locally and minimizing synthetic inputs, all while producing delicious beverages. Qualifying beers are either certified organic or meet multiple sustainability benchmarks. This includes using local or sustainably grown ingredients, reducing waste, and ensuring fair labor practices.

Allagash Brewing Company's Allagash Lager and Kickabout Lager from Portland, Maine, were recognized. Brewmaster Jason Perkins highlighted the company's goal to craft great beer responsibly. In 2025, they brewed with over two million pounds of Maine-grown grain.

Cerebral Brewing in Aurora, Colorado, received accolades for its Mountain Express fresh-hop pilsner and Velvet Orchard fruited saison. Operations director Anne Abrahamson emphasized the brewery's commitment to operating responsibly, from investing in their team to reducing waste.

Fullsteam Brewery in Durham, North Carolina, was awarded for its Paycheck pilsner and Reset: Oktoberfest. Founder Sean Lilly Wilson noted the flagship pilsner's use of North Carolina-sourced ingredients. Reset: Oktoberfest is highlighted as an example of 'plow-to-pint' beer, made with 100% North Carolina malt from a regenerative farm.
