Andreas Graf's ambitious cycling journey, which began in April 2022 from Norway with an initial nine-month target for India, evolved into an epic three-year, eight-month circumnavigation. He covered an astonishing 55,000 kilometers, traversing five continents and 46 countries. The expedition, characterized by a desire for slower travel and outdoor immersion, saw him cycling through Europe, Asia, Australia, and South America.
Graf endured harsh environments, including two months in Australia's outback during summer heat and a challenging crossing of the Sahara Desert. His 51°C experience in Mauritania and sandstorms tested his resilience. Despite facing extreme weather, high-altitude storms in Tajikistan, and a significant earthquake in Chile, he persevered.
Unexpected moments of generosity, such as being invited for meals by strangers in rural India and being offered a house by a couple in Australia, punctuated the difficulties. A severe cycling accident in Colombia, which resulted in a broken wrist, required surgery and implants. The journey profoundly impacted Graf, altering his relationship with work and time and raising his awareness of pollution and climate change.
His travels continued from India through Nepal, Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand. The South American leg included Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia. He concluded his journey on December 23, 2025, after flying to Senegal and cycling north back to Norway.
