Glass Cypress, the Houston-based artisanal menswear brand established by brothers Samee and Saber Ahmed in 2016, is rapidly ascending in the luxury fashion world. The brand distinguishes itself by meticulously updating classic silhouettes with time-honored South Asian techniques, including intricate Nakshi Kantha embroidery and traditional dyeing processes. This unique approach has garnered international attention, with pieces being worn by prominent figures like Bad Bunny, Justin Bieber, Drake, and G-Dragon.
Following its expansion into womenswear earlier this year, Glass Cypress is now poised for a significant milestone: its first official menswear show in Paris this coming January. This strategic decision to host their debut show in Paris stems from the brand's established sales showroom presence in the city for the past two years. The show is slated to take place at Ogata, a venue in the historic Marais district known for its blend of dining, art, and retail.
Initially self-funded and lacking formal fashion training, the Ahmed brothers have cultivated a distinct aesthetic by questioning conventional fashion norms and reinterpreting traditional garments. Their manufacturing process, now based in their family's factory in Bangladesh, allows for handcrafted embellishments and natural dyeing techniques. The brand's success is further evidenced by its growing wholesale partnerships with major retailers such as Ssense and Saks Fifth Avenue, and its recent recognition as a Saks Fifth Avenue Designer Accelerator brand.
