Two lifelong friends have successfully conquered a 100-mile ultramarathon, completing the entire distance without a wink of sleep. Peter Copsey and Simon Alexander, both from Essex, were among the nearly 540 participants in the challenging Rat Race event. This arduous journey began at Bamburgh Castle in Northumberland and concluded at Edinburgh Castle. The pair demonstrated remarkable endurance, finishing the race in an astounding 39 hours, four minutes, and 12 seconds. This achievement is particularly notable as the target time for the event was 48 hours, and a significant portion of competitors, almost one in three, were unable to finish. Copsey even reflected on the extreme challenge, questioning his life choices during the demanding trek.
