Following the stillbirth of their daughter Emily in 2014, Michelle and Richard Daniels established the Forever Stars charity. Their mission was to prevent other parents from experiencing similar distress. The charity successfully raised £280,000, funding two specialized bereavement suites, known as Serenity Suites, at Nottingham's Queens Medical Centre and Nottingham City Hospital.
These suites offer a tranquil environment for families to grieve and spend time with their babies. Since their opening in 2016 and 2017, over 2,600 families have utilized these spaces. The charity is now launching a "Decade of Serenity" campaign to raise £50,000 for essential upgrades, including redecoration and new furnishings.
Families who have used the suites, like Rebecca Soundy and Laura Barnett, emphasize their profound importance. They highlight the opportunity to create memories and have a peaceful space during immense loss. Forever Stars has been recognized with The King's Award for Voluntary Service for its impactful work.
