Baby or Dog? Airline Denies Family Holiday Flight
23 Dec
Summary
- Couple denied holiday flight due to a new internal airline policy.
- Airline claimed policy update involved infants and pets traveling together.
- Family eventually rebooked with another airline and flew with their dog and baby.

A family's holiday travel plans were disrupted on December 12, 2025, when Flair Airlines denied them boarding at Abbotsford Airport. The couple, Ryan Coulson and Rebecca Bordeiasu, were attempting to fly home with their infant daughter and two dogs.
Airline staff cited a new internal policy, implemented on November 20, 2025, prohibiting passengers from traveling with both an infant and a dog. The couple stated they received no prior notification, and this rule was not evident in the airline's published policies. Flair Airlines later amended its pet-travel webpage to clarify that each adult may travel with either one infant or one pet, and if both are present, separate adults are required for each.
The couple recounted being made to feel as though they had to choose between their dog and their baby. After being denied boarding, they successfully rebooked with Air Canada and were permitted to travel with their infant and dogs. The family is reportedly seeking legal advice regarding the incident, while Flair Airlines has offered to reimburse the cost of their denied flight.
