In December 2004, Hare Ram Pandey's life was irrevocably altered when he discovered a newborn abandoned in a Jharkhand forest. He rescued the infant, Taapsee, and rushed her to a hospital, refusing to give up on her. This act of compassion led him and his wife, Bhavani Kumari, to establish the Narayan Sewa Ashram.
Over nearly two decades, the couple has rescued and raised 35 abandoned baby girls, providing them with a loving home and essential care. Local authorities now contact Pandey whenever an abandoned infant is found. The girls affectionately refer to him as 'Baba'.
Despite facing substantial monthly expenses running into lakhs, Pandey is committed to his mission. He farms his land, but the income is insufficient. He dreams of completing their home's roof and acquiring essential appliances like computers and a washing machine.
Pandey's story gained national attention on 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' in 2023, highlighting his dedication. He remains steadfast, believing in finding support to continue his life's work of providing a dignified future for every girl.
