An emu named Picasso recently made an unexpected visit to Nashville's Metro Animal Care and Control after escaping her enclosure.
Picasso, who resides in Mt. Juliet, a suburb of Nashville, was found approximately one mile from her home on Thursday, April 25th. She was loose for only a few hours before animal control officers were able to safely corral her into a specially renovated trailer.
According to a spokesperson, the emu's owner had reported the escape immediately. The owner intends to pick up Picasso on Saturday. While the emu is legally permitted as a pet in Tennessee, officials stressed the significant commitment involved in caring for such an animal, recommending thorough research and family discussion before adoption.
