Summary
- Navya Nanda stresses that empowerment comes from making choices on one's own terms.
- Young women face significant pressure regarding appearance, roles, and societal expectations.
- Authenticity is crucial; accept you can't be 100% in every role daily.

Navya Naveli Nanda believes empowerment begins with the freedom to make one’s own choices. Speaking about the pressures young women face today, she said expectations related to appearance, behaviour, family responsibilities and professional roles often shape their lives.
Navya noted that many young women struggle while trying to meet the different roles society expects them to play at home and at work. She said such expectations can sometimes make people lose sight of what they truly want for themselves. Recalling advice from her grandmother, she shared that focusing too much on what others expect can make individuals forget their own goals. For her, empowerment lies in having the independence to choose a path on one’s own terms.
She also urged young people to stop trying to mould themselves according to society’s expectations. According to Navya, this pressure is especially strong today because of social media, where it is often difficult to tell what is real and what is carefully curated. She said this environment makes authenticity even more important and encouraged people to stay true to themselves instead of comparing their lives with what they see online.
Navya also spoke about a personal lesson she has embraced recently. With multiple responsibilities and roles to balance, she said she has learned to let go of the pressure to perform perfectly in every area of life. She explained that it is unrealistic to give 100 percent to every role every day. Instead, she now focuses on choosing the role she wants to prioritise each day and giving her full effort to that.
Navya Naveli Nanda has carved out her own identity as an entrepreneur, podcaster and advocate for women’s health and empowerment. She comes from one of India’s most prominent film families. She is the granddaughter of Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, while her uncle Abhishek Bachchan is a well-known actor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is an internationally recognised star. Her brother, Agastya Nanda, is also an actor.
