Eighty-Something Duo's Epic Global Adventures

Best friends Ellie Hamby and Sandy Hazelip, both 85, are circumnavigating the globe and inspiring many. These "traveling nanas" from Texas have explored over 50 countries across all seven continents, demonstrating that age is no barrier to adventure. Their journey began over twenty years ago when they met on a medical mission in Zambia, solidifying a bond that has led to countless shared experiences.

Their shared adventures include riding the Trans-Siberian Railway and a "trip around the world in 80 days" that was postponed due to the pandemic but finally commenced in January 2023. The duo, who documented their travels on TikTok and amassed over 110,000 followers, recently published a memoir titled "Here We Go: Lessons for Living Fearlessly from Two Traveling Nanas" in September 2025. They advocate for active living, stating, "Keep moving. Once you stop moving, your body shuts down."

Despite physical challenges like artificial knees and hip replacements, Hamby and Hazelip continue their explorations. They are currently revisiting continents for extended stays, delving deeper into destinations like Southeast Asia. Their philosophy is simple: embrace opportunity and adventure, as "Adventure has no age limit."
