East Yorkshire Seeks Volunteers to Drive Community Vehicles

On November 10, 2025, East Riding of Yorkshire Council announced that they are recruiting volunteers to drive community minibuses and cars in the East Riding area. The council stated that community transport groups play a vital role in helping older people and those with disabilities access essential services such as medical appointments, shopping, and social activities.

The recruitment event is scheduled to take place on November 21, 2025, from 10:00 GMT in the South Shore Car Park in Bridlington. Interested individuals will have the opportunity to speak with representatives from Holderness Area Rural Transport (HART) and Bridlington Local Community Lift (BLCL), the two local community transport organizations.

HART is specifically looking for more volunteer minibus drivers to support their services in the Holderness area, and they will have one of their minibuses available at the event for supervised test drives. Meanwhile, BLCL is seeking volunteers with their own cars to provide lifts to people for appointments.

Councillor Nick Coultish, the council's cabinet member for culture, leisure, tourism, and planning, emphasized the importance of community transport volunteers in making a significant difference in the lives of local residents who may not have access to transportation on their own. He encouraged anyone interested in the roles to attend the recruitment event and learn more about how they can contribute to the community.
