Crown Princess Amalia of the Netherlands has achieved the rank of Corporal following the completion of her General Military Training (AMO) on January 23. Her mother, Queen Maxima, was present and visibly moved by the occasion.
Amalia, the heir to the throne, will now pursue further studies at the Defensity College. This program will train her as a military reservist, enabling her to wear a military uniform when working for the Ministry of Defence. She recently graduated from a degree in Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics and is now studying Dutch Law.
The young royal has faced significant security challenges, including threats of kidnapping that necessitated a temporary relocation to Madrid for her safety. Prime Minister Mark Rutte expressed concern over the impact on her life. Despite these challenges, Amalia has been increasing her royal duties, recently christening a ship alone in early 2025.
