On March 18th, four residents from Heathland House in Ferndown will take part in a unique event called 'Race Across Dorset'. This challenge, inspired by the popular BBC series 'Race Across the World', will see contestants race to various county landmarks. The participants, aged between them totaling 249 years, will navigate using wheelchairs, walking sticks, and limited car journeys, aiming to complete the course within six and a half hours and a set budget.
Key locations on their route include Bournemouth's Russell-Cotes Museum and The Tank Museum at Bovington. The race begins at Heathland House at 10:30 AM, with teams choosing their first destination. Bonus points are awarded for fewer car trips, encouraging alternative transport. This initiative, conceived to foster adventure and create lasting memories, also highlights the adventurous spirit that can thrive regardless of age.
