Doritos is introducing a new, limited-time flavor early in 2027: Doritos Lemon Pepper. This exciting addition taps into the significant rise of lemon pepper as a beloved flavor across food culture. The brand stated that the new chips are inspired by the flavor's growing popularity and passionate fanbase, aiming to combine its iconic crunch with the zesty seasoning.

The inspiration for Doritos Lemon Pepper is heavily influenced by Atlanta, where lemon pepper wings are a long-standing staple. Jess Spaulding, senior vice president of marketing for PepsiCo Foods U.S., noted that the flavor's bold, tangy kick originated in Atlanta's wing scene. She highlighted the challenge of perfecting the chip's taste, wanting the bright citrus upfront followed by a building pepper heat.

Retailers who sampled the chips at the National Association of Convenience Stores Show in Las Vegas reacted positively, with Spaulding describing the experience as "immediate." The flavor profile of Doritos Lemon Pepper is characterized by an opening of bright tanginess, evolving into peppery heat and savory notes, and concluding with a lingering zest.

Currently, there are over a dozen Doritos flavors available, including recently launched Doritos Protein chips and Doritos Simply NKD varieties. The upcoming Lemon Pepper flavor marks another innovative step for the iconic snack brand.
