Golitha Falls: Cornwall's Enchanting Domesday-Era Woodland Captivates Visitors

As of October 2, 2025, Golitha Falls, an ancient woodland in Cornwall, has been garnering widespread attention for its enchanting, "fairytale" scenery. The 18-hectare nature reserve, which was recorded in the Domesday Book, has been designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty by Natural England.

The woodland, which spans a long gorge along the River Fowey, is known for its diverse ecosystem, including 120 species of moss. In the spring, the forest floor is carpeted with a vibrant display of bluebells and wood anemones, while the meadow areas see a flourish of bugle, self-heal, white clover, common tormentil, and valerian species.

The site is equally captivating in the colder months, when winter storms cause the River Fowey to swell, making the waterfalls even more torrential. This breathtaking natural wonder was recently showcased in a popular TikTok video shared by @rachelsanderling, who visited the site and described it as a "temperate rainforest" with a "lovely, mystical feel."
