15 Nov, 2025
Summary
- Brisbane woman spends thousands searching for her lost dog
- Hired a pet detective, a former police officer, to aid the search
- Deployed thermal drones to scan bushland for any sign of the dog

In October 2024, a Brisbane woman named Pru Gillett was devastated when her rare British Cream dachshund, Luna, escaped from her home during a hailstorm. For the past year, Gillett has been pouring thousands of dollars and immense effort into the search for her beloved pet.
Gillett has taken time off work, enlisted hundreds of volunteers, and even hired a pet detective, a former police officer, to aid in the search. The detective does not believe Luna was stolen, despite her hefty $5,500 price tag. Instead, they suspect the timid dog may be hiding in dense bushland near creeks and parks in the area.
