15 Feb
Summary

Detroit embraced its Polish heritage on Saturday, February 14th, with vibrant Paczki Day celebrations. Two prominent venues, Detroit City Distillery and Eastern Market Brewing Co., hosted festivities that drew enthusiastic crowds.
Detroit City Distillery marked its ninth year of producing Paczki Day Vodka. Owners explained that hundreds of dozen paczki are steeped in the vodka before distillation, resulting in a clear spirit that captures the raspberry and donut flavors of the pastry. This year's event was reported as their largest yet.
Meanwhile, Eastern Market Brewing Co. continued its tradition of offering paczki-flavored beers, a concept that began in 2017. The brewery served a variety of flavors, including cherry cheesecake, raspberry jam, lemon blueberry sour, orange creamsicle IPA, and maple coffee stout. Canned versions of these beers have sold out annually since their introduction in 2021.
Attendees expressed delight in celebrating Polish culture and enjoying the creative culinary offerings. The events highlighted Detroit's vibrant culture and the community's appreciation for traditions, regardless of personal heritage, all in anticipation of Fat Tuesday on February 17th and the commencement of Lent on February 18th.
