Construction of temporary queue lines for the Dasara festivities at Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri commenced on Sunday. Temple authorities are intensifying preparations to accommodate an estimated 19-21 lakh devotees during the 10-day celebration, scheduled from October 11 to October 20.
The works officially began after special prayers, adhering to tradition. The temporary queue system will extend from the Vinayaka temple towards the hilltop to effectively regulate devotee movement throughout the festival period.
Temple officials have directed engineering personnel to expedite the completion of queue lines, barricading, and shelters while maintaining high-quality standards. Provisions for regular drinking water, milk, biscuits, and annaprasadam are also planned for devotees waiting in the lines.
