In November 2025, a new bakery called Lovers Bakery is set to open its doors in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. The bakery is the culmination of a decade-long culinary journey for Allie Trojano and Jake Medearis, who first met at the New England Culinary Institute.
Trojano, the lead baker, specializes in baking, while Medearis is a skilled chef. The couple, who have been life partners for the past 11 years, decided to pursue their dream of opening their own bakery before turning 30. After working in the industry in Virginia Beach, they decided to return to Medearis' hometown area, drawn by the desire to have family support.
Just four months ago, Trojano and Medearis purchased a house in Dartmouth and began the process of opening Lovers Bakery in the former Donut Factory location. Trojano's signature croissants, which take three days to make, are the centerpiece of the bakery's offerings. Medearis calls these croissants a "core memory" for customers, describing them as a "balanced treat that is baked perfectly and is not too sweet."
In addition to the classic croissant, the bakery will also offer a variety of specialty croissants, cookies, brownies, and a unique twist on Pop-Tarts, called "Poppin Tarts." The duo plans to bake pies for Thanksgiving and have holiday-themed items available throughout the year.
Trojano and Medearis are dedicated to creating a welcoming space that is full of color, art, and classical music. They aim to "bring love and smiles to the area" with their craft, and to be a part of people's special moments, whether it's a birthday, wedding, or simply brightening someone's day.
