Miracle After Tragedy: Couple's Surrogate Journey Brings New Hope

A courageous couple, Dani and Dan Elm, have found renewed hope after a six-year search for a surrogate following the tragic loss of their four-year-old daughter, Darcy, in a car accident in October 2018. Dani sustained life-altering injuries in the crash, making it unsafe for her to carry a child. Their long journey, which included a failed embryo transfer in 2023, has been met with incredible generosity from Dan's cousin, Paris Smith, who has offered to be their surrogate.

Paris, a mother of four, was deeply moved by the Elms' story and decided to help them fulfill their dream of parenthood. She plans to begin her surrogacy journey after her current postpartum recovery. The couple, who also faced other family health challenges, are now cautiously optimistic about welcoming a sibling for Darcy, whom they remember as a bright and loving child. Dani has also published a book, 'Our Last Steps,' to support other grieving families and those with spinal cord injuries.
