Miracle Win: Couple Survives Near-Death to Bag Lottery Jackpot

A couple from Glentham, Lincolnshire, has reason to celebrate after winning a share of a £1 million Postcode Lottery prize. David Docherty, 70, and his wife Rebecca Andrews, 46, will each receive £333,333.

This remarkable win comes after a tumultuous year for the couple, during which both experienced severe health crises. Earlier in the year, Mr. Docherty required intensive care following emergency surgery. Not long after his recovery, Mrs. Andrews faced a life-threatening allergic reaction to a hornet sting, requiring emergency medical attention at home.

"You come through all the rubbish, and then sometimes something wonderful happens. This has given us hope again," said Mr. Docherty. The couple described the moment they received their winnings as "unbelievable" and likened the experience to a "weird dream."

Mrs. Andrews, who lost her job in the NHS in January, reflected on the string of misfortunes. "David nearly died. Then I nearly died. It's just been really, really stressful, one thing after another. It's been that kind of year you don't wish on anybody," she commented.
