Comedian Jeff Arcuri, 38, shared that his wife Katie Thurston's, 35, stage IV breast cancer diagnosis has made their plans to start a family even more profound. The stark contrast between facing mortality and the prospect of creating new life offers a unique beauty, Arcuri noted.
Thurston received her diagnosis just weeks before their March 2025 wedding. She immediately began an IVF journey, a crucial step before treatments that could impact fertility. By February 2025, she expressed a range of emotions from despair to strength, sharing her experience via Instagram.
Following her diagnosis, Thurston's cancer was reclassified as stage IV after spreading to her liver. She underwent a double mastectomy in April. Arcuri revealed on the 'Off the Vine' podcast in July 2026 that they currently have two viable embryos.
Arcuri's latest Netflix special, 'Nice to Meet You,' also served as a therapeutic platform, with 80% of its content written over the past year, reflecting their recent challenges. He praised Thurston's unwavering sense of humor, stating it has sharpened amid her health journey, allowing them to address difficult topics with openness and laughter.
