Jackie Kennedy's Wedding Yacht Now Half Price!

The iconic yacht Christina O, synonymous with 20th-century glamour and owned by shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, is now on sale for 52 million euros (around $60 million), a significant reduction from its initial 90 million euro asking price. Originally launched as a World War II frigate in 1943, Onassis purchased it for scrap value and invested $4 million to transform it into a lavish vessel. It served as the backdrop for Onassis's relationships with Maria Callas and later his marriage to Jacqueline Kennedy in 1968.

Despite its storied past, which includes hosting luminaries like Winston Churchill and Rudolf Nureyev, the Christina O is struggling to find a buyer in 2026. Brokers cite a convergence of factors, including global conflicts in Eastern Europe and the Middle East, and a sluggish European economy. Furthermore, the yacht's classic proportions and Onassis's original hospitality-focused design may not align with the preferences of contemporary ultra-wealthy buyers, who often seek more modern features.

Following Onassis's death in 1975, the yacht passed through various hands, eventually falling into disrepair before a significant restoration in 2001. This extensive refit replaced most of the original hull and systems, though key features like the onyx staircase and whale-skin barstools were preserved. Officially classified as a passenger vessel due to its 17 staterooms, it has operated as a high-end charter, famously used by Heidi Klum for her wedding in 2019. The current owner, the widow of the late Irish businessman Ivor Fitzpatrick, aims to sell it more quickly, seeking a new custodian for its next chapter.
