Chitrakoot Dham in Uttar Pradesh is gearing up to host a grand 5-day Deepotsav festival starting October 18, 2025. The festival, which coincides with the celebrations in Ayodhya, is expected to draw over 40 lakh devotees and tourists to the holy site.
The Chitrakoot Dham Tirtha Parishad and local administration have been working tirelessly to complete all preparations before the event. This includes ensuring cleanliness, security, and efficient traffic management to accommodate the massive influx of visitors. Various cultural programs will be held at the National Ramayana Fair complex, featuring performances by renowned artists and folk performers.
The Deepotsav celebration in Chitrakoot holds deep significance, as it commemorates Lord Ram's return to Ayodhya after conquering Lanka. As per tradition, saints and devotees will light lamps along the Kamadgiri Parikrama Path to welcome the Lord. Over 400 volunteers will assist the authorities in this endeavor.
The Chitrakoot Dham has gained immense popularity in recent years, with the government's efforts to revamp religious tourist destinations in the region. The construction of the Bundelkhand Expressway and the Chitrakoot Airport have also contributed to the surge in tourist footfall, which has increased by 20-25% since the Prayagraj Mahakumbh.
