In a heartwarming story, a Chihuahua named Nacho has found his forever home after his foster mom, Monica Matute, made a surprising discovery about his language skills. Nacho had been living with Matute for some time, but she noticed he was shy and wouldn't respond to her spoken English commands.
It wasn't until Matute tried speaking to Nacho in Spanish that she saw a dramatic change in his behavior. In a viral TikTok video, Matute can be seen addressing Nacho in both English and Spanish, and it's only when she uses Spanish that Nacho perks up and reacts enthusiastically. "I started talking to him in Spanish, and it was the most energetic we had seen him," Matute told ABC News.
Nacho's unique language needs didn't deter a loving family from adopting him. Nancy Garza-Harris and her husband, Rick, drove three hours from Seattle to meet Nacho and immediately knew he was the one. "Rick sat on a bench, and he jumped up into Rick's lap, and it was like, 'Okay, well, that's that,'" Garza-Harris said. The couple has since renamed Nacho "Rogelio Montoya," in a nod to the character Inigo Montoya from the film "The Princess Bride."
Nacho's story has captured the hearts of many, showcasing the importance of understanding an animal's individual needs and the joy that can come from finding the perfect match.
