On Saturday morning, the campus of CHEO children's hospital was alive with the CHEO Construction Community Cares parade. Hosted by the National Capital Heavy Construction Association (NCHCA) and the Ottawa Construction Association (OCA), the event showcased numerous heavy equipment vehicles for children to admire from their hospital rooms or the surrounding grounds.
Families, like the Letourneaus who traveled nine hours to attend, found joy and togetherness during the event. Ashley Letourneau shared how such occasions offer respite and enjoyment amidst her daughter's leukemia treatment. The parade was more than just a visual spectacle; it was a crucial fundraiser.
Steve Read, president and CEO of the CHEO foundation, highlighted the community's efforts. The NCHCA and OCA presented a cheque for $26,775 to the CHEO foundation, with funds designated for the Roger Neilson Children's Hospice. Nick Bray of NCHCA emphasized the goal of providing fun and enjoyment for the children.
