Greater Chennai Traffic Police have implemented traffic diversions in Mylapore for the annual Panguni Peruvizha at Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple. The festival is scheduled from March 23 to April 1, with traffic restrictions in place around the temple and on major roads like R K Mutt Road. These diversions are dynamic, adjusting based on devotee crowds.
Key events include the Adhikara Nandhi procession on March 25 at 6 am, the car festival on March 29 at 6 am, and the Arubathumoovar festival on March 30 at 2:30 pm. Vehicle movement towards the temple will be restricted at various junctions, including Mada Streets and Luz junction, to ensure safety.
Motorists traveling through the area should anticipate rerouting. For example, traffic from Royapettah High Road to Mandaveli via R K Mutt Road will be diverted at Luz junction. MTC buses from Mylapore tank terminus will operate from Luz Church Road during festival days. Designated parking is available at Luz Church Road and Venkatesa Agraharam Road under the MRTS flyover.
