On Republic Day 2026, the Chandigarh Administration is set to present Commendation Certificates to 32 individuals. The honorees represent a diverse group, including healthcare professionals, government officials, law enforcement, engineers, educators, social workers, and athletes.
Among the distinguished recipients is Dr. Balram Gupta, a long-time Chandigarh resident and former law faculty member at Panjab University. His extensive humanitarian work through Rotary, focusing on public health initiatives like polio eradication and TB awareness, has earned him significant recognition. Professor Emeritus and Senior Advocate, Dr. Gupta's career spans legal education and judicial administration.
Colonel Jasdeep Sandhu is honored for nearly a decade of exceptional civil-military coordination, notably during security operations and the COVID-19 pandemic. His efforts ensured effective responses to emergencies and enhanced collaboration between defense and civil authorities. Laxmi Kant Tewari, a Senior Radiographic Technician, is recognized for professional excellence and social commitment in medical radiology, including awareness campaigns.
International rifle shooter Mahit Sandhu will receive an award for her historic performance at the 25th Summer Deaflympics 2025 in Tokyo, where she secured multiple medals. Other recipients include Dr. Parmanand Gupta and Dr. Mrinalini Kumar in the medical field, recognized for their professional achievements and contributions to patient care and public health initiatives.
The list of awardees also includes individuals from various government departments and those contributing to social service and public service, highlighting a broad recognition of dedicated community members.
