Care Home Residents Spread Joy with Car Notes

Residents from Orchard House Care Home in Fenland, Cambridgeshire, have been recognized for their heartwarming initiative of writing encouraging notes for their local community. The project involved residents penning uplifting quotes on cards, which care home staff then distributed by placing them on people's cars in the area.

One resident, 92-year-old Wally, shared that the messages were initially intended to uplift his own spirits but unexpectedly resonated widely. Dom Stannard, a local teacher, described receiving a note as a "lovely" gesture, emphasizing how small acts of kindness have a significant impact.

Care home staff member Honey Berry conceived the idea after observing a similar project online. She noted that the initiative positively affected both the community and the residents involved, fostering a sense of connection and happiness.

The distributed notes reached various locations in Wisbech, including local institutions like the Alan Hudson Centre, the police station, and the North Cambridgeshire Hospital's ambulance bay. Cambridgeshire Police officers shared their appreciation on social media for a note received, highlighting how it brightened their day.

Other residents, including Harold, 88, and Dorothy, 92, also participated, expressing satisfaction in making others happy. Stannard, a teacher, found the gesture particularly meaningful given his role in promoting character and kindness among students.

Sarah Watson, the care home's general manager, expressed her emotion at the widespread positive reaction, noting the joy the project brought during challenging times.
