The Busby Centre is hosting its annual Streetlight Gala on Friday, October 16th, from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at Tangle Creek Golf Club in Thornton. This vital fundraising event aims to gather much-needed funds to support individuals facing homelessness and poverty in the region.
The evening promises an exquisite dining experience featuring a winning menu from the recent Iron Chef competition. Attendees can also look forward to a silent auction with exciting items, including Toronto Raptors tickets, and live entertainment. CTV's Sarah Freemark will serve as the emcee for the night.
According to Busby Centre Executive Director Sarah Peddle, the gala's goal is to raise $80,000 to support the centre's Social Service Hub. As of Friday, $12,250 has been raised. Peddle emphasized the increasing need for community and donor support, noting that the drop-in centre is 'busting at the seams' due to rising costs.
"It really does take a village," Peddle stated, highlighting the importance of community involvement in securing housing solutions for those in need. The funds generated are crucial for the centre's ongoing efforts to provide essential resources and transition individuals back into stable housing.
