In 2017, British journalist Alice Taylor took a spontaneous trip to Albania that would alter the trajectory of her life. At the time, the 38-year-old had already taken several bold leaps, moving from the UK to Malta and then leaving a stable job to pursue journalism. However, it was during a brief weekend getaway to Albania that Taylor felt an instant connection to the country.
Despite knowing little about Albania, its language, or its people, Taylor decided to stay. What was initially planned as a four-day trip turned into a three-week stay, and eventually, a permanent relocation. Taylor has now been living in Albania for the past eight years, becoming a citizen and raising an Albanian child.
Beyond building a personal life in her new home, Taylor has also established a remarkable media career in Albania. In 2019, she launched the country's first podcast, "Explaining Albania," which evolved in 2023 into the nation's first and only English-language current affairs show, "Inside Albania." Through her interviews with key political figures, Taylor aims to offer a foreign perspective on Albanian issues and hold her guests accountable.
Today, Taylor's work spans far beyond broadcasting. She is a freelance editor for POLITICO, a correspondent for international media such as BBC and The Times, and a freelance journalist for various European outlets. She also teaches communications and public relations in the private sector and dedicates time to mentoring young people and speaking at events.
