Bollywood actress Avani Modi, who is known for her roles in films like Calendar Girls and Carry on Kesar, has fond memories of playing garba in Ahmedabad about a decade ago. However, since getting into acting, she hasn't had the opportunity to participate in the festivities as much.
In 2022, while promoting her film Modi Ji Ki Beti, Modi visited some famous garba venues in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Surat, which she describes as an "unforgettable experience." The actress, who hails from Gandhinagar, tries to attend the evening aarti and play garba for a day or two whenever possible, as she loves grooving to all-time classic garba songs like Sanedo and Timli.
Modi also enjoys the song Timli, for which she had to learn some unique dance steps, and the song Patan Thi Patola from her film Fari Ek Vaar. While she is particular about her diet, the actress allows herself the occasional cheat day during Navratri, as no one goes home immediately after playing garba. After hours of dancing, she feels hungry around 1:30-2 AM and enjoys eating something with her loved ones, which adds to the joy of the festival.
