- Mrs. Bronson opened a 10-room boarding house in 1887.

- Famous guests include Prince Charles and Amitabh Bachchan.

In 1887, Mrs. Bronson established a humble 10-room boarding house in Bengaluru, unknowingly laying the foundation for a city landmark. Today, the West End stands as a cherished heritage property, its history palpable within its grounds. The site uniquely preserves an ancient jamun tree and a Muneswara shrine, untouched as the property grew.
During the Raj, the property's balcony offered prime views for racecourse betting. Significant restoration efforts have maintained the original boarding house's charm, featuring high ceilings and vintage fans, with architectural guidance from the original architects' families.
Bengaluru's oldest rain tree, over a century old, graces the property, believed to have been carried by a migratory bird. The West End has hosted numerous luminaries, including filmmaker David Lean, Prince Charles, and F1 champion Lewis Hamilton, with a section dedicated to Prince Charles.
The property also houses Bengaluru's oldest functioning post box, a fiery red sentinel witnessing decades of communication. Notably, the West End shares a wall with Sophia School, with students historically crossing over for snacks.
