Ben Shephard, the This Morning presenter, shared amusing details about his proposal to his wife, Annie, whom he has been married to for over 20 years.
After dating for nine years, Annie prompted Ben about marriage. He arranged a romantic proposal in Paris, complete with a custom ring and a restaurant overlooking the Eiffel Tower. However, Ben famously overslept, missing the entire planned event.
The following day, Ben attempted the proposal again in the Jardin du Palais Royal. He found it challenging to ask Annie to marry him as she was talking incessantly. Despite the nerves and the mishap, he eventually succeeded.
They married on March 25, 2004, on Burgh Island in South Devon. This unique venue, famed for its Art Deco hotel, is cut off from the mainland at high tide and was chosen as it inspired Agatha Christie novels, a favorite of Annie's.
In 2020, Ben and Annie returned to Burgh Island Hotel with their two sons to celebrate Annie's birthday, reminiscing about their wedding day.
