Belmar's 18th Avenue beach buzzed with activity this past Wednesday as the borough hosted its 39th annual Sandcastle Contest. Presented by the Belmar Tourism Commission and D'Jais, the event invited participants to construct sandcastles of all designs.
Builders were granted four hours to complete their sandy creations, with an open invitation to design anything imaginable. Past contests have seen incredible entries, including fantastical creatures and complex miniature courses.
This year's competition awarded prizes across several age divisions, from 7 and younger to 16 and older, alongside special categories like family and 'Classic Sandcastle'. The coveted 'Best on Beach' award for 2024 went to an impressive fossilized Tyrannosaurus Rex.
