Basset Hound's Epic Lake Fail Goes Viral

Summary
- Leroy the Basset Hound hilariously slipped into the water.
- Basset Hounds are not natural swimmers due to their build.
- Leroy was wearing a life jacket and was rescued by his dad.
A Basset Hound named Leroy recently became an internet sensation after a video captured his comical attempt to board a boat dock. Leroy, despite wearing a life jacket, slipped on the wet surface and tumbled into the water, much to the amusement of viewers.
Veterinarian Dr. Maja Platisa explains that Basset Hounds are not ideal swimmers. Their long bodies, short legs, and heavy bone structure make it difficult for them to stay afloat and can lead to them tiring quickly, making swimming potentially dangerous.
Fortunately, Leroy was equipped with a life jacket and his father was nearby to assist him out of the water. The incident, which occurred on June 20, 2026, served as a lighthearted reminder of the need for constant supervision and safety precautions when pets are near bodies of water.
