A unique new establishment, Pawsitive Cattitude Café, is preparing to open its doors in Barrie next month, offering a novel experience for cat lovers. This café aims to provide a comfortable space where patrons can enjoy beverages while interacting with adoptable cats. The venture is spearheaded by co-owners Josie Fabreo and Cecilia Cabrera, who met through volunteer work. Their shared passion for animals and community service inspired the creation of this unique business. The café's primary objectives include facilitating cat adoptions and serving as a therapeutic retreat for the local population. It will feature two distinct rooms: one dedicated to the cats and another for serving refreshments. The owners envision a place where people can relax, de-stress, and find comfort in the presence of animals. They also intend to foster an inclusive atmosphere by offering multicultural treats and beverages.
The Pawsitive Cattitude Café has initiated a partnership with Comfy Cats in Orillia, beginning with four cats for a six-month trial period, with plans to expand to between six and ten cats. Future collaborations with Furry Friends in Barrie are also anticipated. Beyond the feline companionship, the café is committed to inclusivity and community support. Co-owner Cecilia Cabrera, along with her daughter Gabriella Briére, who designed the logo, are dedicated to making the space welcoming for everyone. Briére, with her background in veterinary assistant studies, will oversee the cat room to ensure the animals' well-being and assist in matching them with potential adopters. The café plans to host events for children with special needs, including those with autism, leveraging Cabrera's diploma in child psychology. The new café is located at 1 Marsellus Drive Unit 10 in Barrie's south end, with an anticipated opening date of December.
