On October 4th, 2025, the Maha Dashami celebrations at Banga Bhawan in Chandigarh concluded the annual Durga Puja festivities with great fervor and excitement. The proceedings commenced with the traditional Dadhi Karma Puja, Darpan Bisarjan, and the much-anticipated 'Sindoor Khaela' ritual.
During the Sindoor Khaela, married women dressed in spotless white and red-bordered sarees came together to participate in this age-old tradition, spreading a message of happiness and bonhomie. The event was organized by the Bangiya Sanskritik Sammilani, which has been preserving this cultural celebration in the city for the past 53 years.
Following the immersion procession to the Ghaggar river, the devotees returned to Banga Bhawan to receive the Shanti jolly, or sprinkling of holy water, while wishing each other Shubh Bijoya and praying for universal peace and happiness. The Bangiya Sanskritik Sammilani's General Secretary, Col. Deepak De (retd.), highlighted the organization's commitment to celebrating this tradition and making it an integral part of the region's cultural fabric.
