In October 2024, Bandra's usually buzzing streets took on an eerie glow as the Spooky Halloween Walk led curious Mumbaikars through the suburb's haunted lanes. The late-night storytelling photowalk, curated by guide Shantanu Dey, unfolded tales of restless spirits and haunted nooks.
The walk began at St. Andrew's Church, which has the oldest cross in Mumbai and an ancient cemetery. Participants heard stories about a bride waiting for her dead groom and a lady who lost her baby to the 1896 plague. The trail then wound through Mount Mary Road and Church, where there are legends of candles that relight themselves.
From seasoned locals to first-time visitors, everyone was bewitched by the spine-tingling experience. The haunted hotel story and the Mount Mary tale particularly intrigued the participants. Even those who had lived in Bandra for years were left wide-eyed, discovering the suburb's dark, mysterious heartbeat.
