Mom Builds Backyard 'Tike Town' for Sons

A Pennsylvania mother, Jayde Hoban, has embarked on an extraordinary project to construct a personalized "Tike Town" in her backyard for her two young sons, Ren and Max. This imaginative wonderland is composed of over 30 Little Tikes and Step2 playhouses, meticulously arranged to form distinct zones such as a beach, an airport, and a campground, complete with real paved roads.

Hoban began this endeavor in early April, initially motivated by her sons' disputes over their existing playhouses. Her search for more led her to a substantial collection of vintage Little Tikes items, sparking the idea for the town. After a viral TikTok post, Hoban invested approximately $1,500 and has since spent over $8,000, with an estimated $4,000 more allocated for landscaping and thematic decorations.

The sprawling "Tike Town" is designed with diverse themes, including a whimsical woodland area and an "Area 51" inspired zone with red clay and rocks. Vintage pieces, like a Little Tikes Tuggy Boat Sandbox, are incorporated, evoking childhood nostalgia. Hoban's grandfather, Dennis, affectionately known for "Tike Town Towing," assists with transporting the play structures, adding a personal touch to the project.

Both Little Tikes and Step2 have contributed to the town, sending various playhouses and accessories. Hoban plans to complete the landscaping and decoration by the end of July 2026. She hopes her creation inspires other parents and will be enjoyed by her children and future family members for years to come.
