Stripey Stork, a charity dedicated to supporting families with essential baby and children's items, has experienced a substantial rise in demand. Over the past year, the organization provided assistance to approximately 25,000 children, marking a 23% increase in families helped compared to the previous year. This surge highlights the ongoing need for such services within the community.
The charity operates with a dedicated team of 21 staff members and 300 volunteers, managing operations from three warehouses. To enhance their capabilities, Stripey Stork recently opened a new workshop adjacent to its Reigate warehouse. This facility is specifically designed for the meticulous cleaning and safety inspection of larger items like strollers, ensuring all redistributed goods are of high quality.
Founder Nicola Dawes emphasized the dual nature of their work: the "desperate need" and the "fantastic community" that rallies to help. Stripey Stork actively engages in fundraising and collaborates with schools, businesses, and community groups to sustain its operations. Their efforts extend to specialized campaigns, such as "School Days" for back-to-school essentials and "Santa Stork" during the Christmas season, which provided gifts to over 5,000 children in December.
