Councilmember Matt Westmoreland highlighted the program's success in offering affordable, sustainable choices and reducing traffic and emissions. The program supports local bike shops by encouraging e-bike purchases.
Rebate amounts are determined by household income. Those earning less than 60% of the area median income can receive a $1,600 rebate, while those between 60-80% AMI get $1,100, and those between 81-140% AMI qualify for $550.
Recipients will be chosen via a randomized lottery. Selected applicants can use the rebate on qualifying e-bikes at participating shops. Atlanta was the first city in Georgia and third in the Southeast to launch such a program.
A second application period is anticipated in spring 2027.
